It was the beginning of 2018 when Anoma debuted on the global stage, launching two nature-inspired sculptures, The Anemone and The Bodhi, at the Scope International Contemporary Art Show at Miami Beach, USA. And how time has flown! This past year brought us the opportunity to collaborate with multiple artists and dealers, enabling us to expand the reach of our products across the United States.
Showcasing our work to diverse audiences at trade events such as the Architectural Digest Design Show, NYC, and Coverings’18, Atlanta, brought us international recognition and appreciation. Winning Perspective’s 40 under 40 Award was a defining moment for me this year – a sign of good things to come, reinforcing my enthusiasm to learn and grow. Anoma also won three awards (Coverings’18 Atlanta, WIN London, and ASID WestEdge LA) and the studio’s passion for natural stone and our unique manufacturing process was captured in an extensive article by ArchDaily in August.
As I look back and reflect on my journey, from the day when I received my first commission to where I stand today, it all seems to make sense to me now. The good and the bad parts! All the hurdles and hiccups along the way are just as important to my journey as accomplishments and accolades. They’ve been incredible learning experiences, instilling in me a deep sense of humility.
The recent decision to move to the United States and meeting Shane here in LA has been no less than a blessing for me. I’m excited about our first project in the States which is nearing completion now – a custom installation at The Row Hotel at Assembly Row, Somerville, MA, and to share my knowledge and love of stone with the design world through Anoma’s Product Knowledge Initiative, which we launched at Kohn Pederson Fox Associates in August. Meanwhile, work on Anoma’s upcoming flagship Experience Centre in LA continues!
